📅 Deadline: July 13, 2026
🏛 Eligible Applicants: States, Counties, Cities/Townships, and Federally Recognized Tribes

Funding can support software licensing, system integration, cloud infrastructure, staff training, implementation, data collection, and performance evaluation. HUD is seeking jurisdictions willing to deploy automated permitting technology and document measurable outcomes such as reduced permit review times, improved workflow efficiency, enhanced customer experience, and cost savings.
Successful applicants will partner with HUD over a 12–36-month demonstration period to evaluate and share lessons learned to help modernize permitting nationwide and support housing affordability.
Now is the time for local governments experiencing permitting backlogs or staffing challenges to assess readiness, secure leadership support, and begin developing a competitive application.
