FAMU Recreation Complex

NFPS’s role in the Hansel E Tookes Sr Student Recreation Center and Recreational Fields project included the site plan engineering design for the construction of a 20,000 SF gymnasium addition, two volleyball courts, one soccer field, one golf putting area, one golf driving range, one baseball field, one softball field, three outside basketball courts, a field house/maintenance building, two storm water management facilities, and two asphalt parking lots to serve the additional buildings and fields. The site design also included a system of concrete sidewalks and foot paths throughout the site. Utilities constructed were potable water main, irrigation main, gravity sanitary sewer and storm sewer.

Additionally, addressed within the design of this new facility was a 68’ difference in elevation from one side of the site to the other. NFPS staff utilized innovative engineering designs to accomplish grading without the use of retaining walls.
