PERIMETER ROAD

PERIMETER ROAD

NFPS was tasked with providing the design and Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) of the stabilizing and paving of an existing dirt road, and adding a new roadway between US Hwy 90 and NE 72nd Trace. This project also consisted of 24’ paved roadway surface, grassed shoulders, and roadside ditches. The total project length was 2.5 miles.

This new construction road project will provide an alternate route for traffic from the south side of Live Oak to new retail areas on the north side of the community. This alternate route will alleviate traffic and congestion along Hwy 129, which is the main North/South corridor.

EXTRA MILE

In addition to providing CEI services for the construction of Perimeter Road, a new alignment through the woods in Live Oak, NFPS was asked to provide supplemental design services for a deep subgrade densification to correct a soft area within the roadway.

This work required deep excavation around a sanitary sewer line and the placement of a double layer of bi-axial geogrid fabric to strengthen the subgrade soils and the subbase area. A new profile grade was established and base and asphalt surface was constructed. Also, NFPS designed a flashing beacon with over-designed strain poles and cables to accommodate a future traffic signal installation.
